Recently, I had a chat with a PM who had just moved into management, and they were asking me how I made certain decisions when it came to hiring, staffing, coaching, etc.
Excellent summary of PM leadership principles. Each one is interrelated with each other.
- #2 and #3 especially rings especially true and exactly how I approached PM as an IC.
- #7, 8 and 11, are the attributes that less experienced PM often lacks, especially those coming from non Engineering, DS or Operation background, based. on my own hiring / managing experiences.
---- Fluidity, I interpret as capability to navigate ambiguous and being adaptive, is likely will come with experiences. It all comes down to one-way-door vs. two-way-door decision making.
- The "2nd brain for CPOs" is an excellent product idea that I may dive into deeper for my pet project :)
The latter parts seem to be easier for most organizations, while the former parts require more thinking, especially second-order understanding of people systems.
